The castle chapel is the remains of a late medieval castle that was blown up in 1952. Built in the last third of the 16th century as a round tower extension. Today's building with a cantilevered roof and an eight-sided helmeted lantern essentially stems from a baroque redesign around 1744. The chapel has a uniform baroque furnishing and equipment. It was reconstructed in 1997 and is now used as an evangelical church.

The Saxon king signed his deed of abdication on November 13th, 1918 in the castle, which is no longer in existence. Incidentally, the Count of Münster (see Count of Münster Steig Linz), who at that time resided in Linz in Saxony, refused to allow the king to sign the abdication in his castle in Saxony. The next day he accompanied him across the state border to Guteborn in Brandenburg, which belonged to those of Schönburg-Waldenburg. Since 2018, a granite stone memorial on the old foundation of the castle has been commemorating the certificate of abdication: "I renounce the throne. Friedrich August". The castle was blown up in 1948 and the small chapel and stables have been preserved.
