Museum Castle and Fortress Senftenberg

The fortifications were built in the 16th century to secure the Saxon border on the foundations of a medieval castle. Today it is Germany's only surviving fortress surrounded by such a mighty earth wall.

The “Lausitz art collection” is also located in the castle.

Very impressive castle and fortress complex. It was built in the 16th century on the foundations of a medieval castle to secure the Saxon border. Today it is Germany's only preserved fortress surrounded by such a powerful earth wall. There is a museum in the castle itself. The fortress outside and the small castle park can be visited free of charge. The terrain is impressive and you should take some time. There is also a small animal park next to the complex.
