The circular route through the tall, partly beech forest has a relaxing effect. The three forest islands with a bench, hammock and lounger make a significant contribution to this. But you should take your time and not "rush"!

More of an architectural highlight and great photo opportunity than a refuge. The walls are open and the wooden supporting arches are delicately worked. You can photograph great silhouettes here when a hiker stands in front of the panorama.

In my opinion, the Oberburg Manderscheid and the Niederburg Manderscheid are among the best camouflaged castles. Both castles can hardly be seen from the village, although they are quite powerful. Unusual, impressive and worth seeing.

"The Balduinshütte is a much-visited hut on the Lieserpfad and Eifelsteig, right on the outskirts of Manderscheid. From here you have a fantastic view of the castles in the Liesertal. The openly designed hut was built by the former "beautification association" and rebuilt in 1995 according to the old model. In the past, even spa concerts were held here. Today it is a wonderful place to take a break during a hike around Manderscheid. Archbishop and Elector Baldwin of Trier, who gave Manderscheid city rights in 1327, gave it its name. https://www.eifel.info/a-baldiunshuette-manderscheid

Very nice old stone shelter. In front of the refuge there is a bench that is well suited for a short breather or a picnic. A little below there is a very nice viewing platform.
