This landscape park, which was created only a few years ago as a result of renaturation measures, is located between the two old town centers of the municipality and is both a park and a natural meadow landscape. Divided by numerous bodies of water and tributaries of the Mühlbach, an unusually rich natural fauna and flora has developed here in just a short time. Ducks, coots, adders, newts, geese, frogs, wild bees, to name just a few examples, feel at home here. Lake Ika is now one of the best-known and most popular leisure and recreation areas in the city of Ingelheim - at least since the southern shore was redesigned into an attractive area with play facilities, a barbecue area and a nature observation station. The lake owes its origin less to man's need for leisure facilities than to the demand for natural resources. Until the 1970s, gravel and sand were mined here that the Rhine had deposited there in bygone eras. Lake Ika eventually developed from the abandoned mining area of the Gremminger pit.
