1월 23, 2026, O-Schatz-Park
This park was created as a follow-up to the 4th Saxon State Garden Show in 2006 and today delights visitors of all ages with a wide range of attractions. These include a zoo with exotic animals, an adventure playground, a labyrinth, a skate park, a barbecue area, and a miniature golf course. At the idyllic Rose Lake, the "longest bench" invites visitors to linger. The multi-purpose hall "The O" houses a large collection of coffee pots. A notarized count in November 2009 certified 18,179 pieces, but also marked the end of the large-scale collection drive. https://www.leipzig.travel/poi/o-schatz-park

Together with the Döllnitzsee and Göttwitzsee dams, it is part of the large Wermsdorf ponds. The Horstsee is the oldest of these facilities. The name of the dam comes from a striking island in the middle of the pond, which was previously called "Horst". Even today, the Horstsee is mainly used for fishing. It was created as a fish pond in 1500 and has been state-owned since 1580. The dam has two earthen dams. The Saubach, a second order water body, is dammed. The dam's storage volume is around 1.4 million cubic meters. Source:https://www.wasserwirtschaft.sachsen.de/TS_Horstsee.html

In summer it's a bit overgrown with blackberries and nettles. But it's still a nice place. The downhill part is very steep but it's really fun to ride. The uphill part is fun too.

The Horstsee is a lake near Mutzschen (Saxony). The lake can be reached from the surrounding towns of Wermsdorf (about 2 km from the lake), Nerchau (8 km away) and Kühren-Burkartshain (about 8 km away). The Horstsee is located in the catchment area of Wermsdorf, which is around 2 kilometers from the lake. We currently have no information on tourist offers or access to this lake. With a water surface of 86.7 ha and a water volume of 2.2 million cubic meters, the Döllnitzsee is one of the largest fish ponds in Saxony. The original construction dates from 1850, it was rebuilt between 1981 and 1984 including the pre-dam. It had to be built by the operator of the open-cast mine as a replacement lake for the Elster reservoir that had been lost from the open-cast lignite mine. The small river "Döllnitz" that rises in the small town of Querbitzsch and the "Saubach" served as damming. You can walk right on the dam.

7월 14, 2021, Döllnitzsee Dam
The Döllnitzsee dam (also Wermsdorf or Laubethal dam) is a dam in Saxony that was built in 1850 southwest of Wermsdorf and reconstructed in 1981–1983. It is part of the Wermsdorf Lakes. The dam and its two pre-dams, the Horstsee (72 ha) and the Göttwitzsee (80 ha), are used for service water supply, flood protection, fishing and recreation. The barrier structure of the Döllnitzsee dam and the pre-dams are earth dams. The dammed waters are the Döllnitz and the Saubach. The reservoir is located on the watershed between the Elbe and Mulde. Therefore, the water from the Horstsee not only flows to the Döllnitz and the Elbe, but also to the Mulde through the Mutzschen water. See https://www.seen.de/talsperre-doellnitzsee/

The most well-known body of water is our Horstsee. With its approx. 70 hectare water surface, it has always been one of the largest bodies of water in the old district of Leipzig. But it also has a specialty and rarity: Despite the fact that it was artificially created - probably at the beginning of the 16th century - by building two dams for fish use, it is unlikely that such a body of water is located directly on a watershed. Fed by the Saubach near Wermsdorf and a small tributary from the Wermsdorfer Walde, it has two outflows through the two dams mentioned. To the east, one of them feeds the upper reaches of the Döllnitz, which originated near Querbitzsch, and thus supplies water to the Elbe river basin. Its western outflow, however, feeds the Rodaer See and after it flows through the Mutzschener water. This runoff therefore benefits the river basin of the Mulde. The Horstsee owes its name to the striking island in the middle of the pond, which is called "the Horst" in old documents. It was once created artificially by backfilling during the excavation of the fish channel running through the lake floor. The main dam of the Horstsee serves as a state road and motorway feeder from Oschatz and Torgau to the Mutzschen junction of the A14. The Horstsee was artificially created for fish farming 500 years ago by the feudal lords of Starschedel zu Mutzschen. Today the lake is owned by the Free State of Saxony and has been leased to the master fish manager Georg Stähler since 1992. Every year on the second weekend in October, the Horstsee fishing is a great attraction for tens of thousands of visitors from near and far.
