Tiefenbach Waterfall near Altenberg. Information: Located at approximately 660 meters above sea level, it was artificially created in 1954. The stamp station is no longer located on-site due to two instances of theft. The Tiefenbach waterfall is an artificial waterfall located between Geising and Altenberg. The waterfall is located above Geising on the road to Altenberg at about 660 meters above sea level and was created in 1954. It falls in two stages with a total drop of about 40 meters, separated by a short, flatter section. This makes it one of the highest waterfalls in Saxony. The upper part falls about 15 to 20 meters freely and can be seen from a viewing platform that is accessible from the road on a hiking trail. The Wilischbach meanders for about 4.5 kilometers through a wooded valley to its mouth in the Lockwitzbach at the Teufelsmühle. On its way, it impresses with moss-covered rock formations and small waterfalls, especially along the popular hiking trail through the Wilischgrund.
