The memorial hall was built between 1976 and 1980 and opened on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of Chiang Kai-shek's death. In 2006, it was renamed the "National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall". In 2009, after an election victory by the nationalist Kuomintang, it was renamed.

The park is beautiful

Quiet park with good walking paths and several pavilions. In memory of the uprising of February 28, 1947, the existing landscape park "Taihoku Park" was renamed the "228 Peace Memorial Park" in 1996.

Main gate to Liberty Square. It’s a public plaza covering over 240,000 square meters in the Zhongzheng District of Taipei. It has served as the city's public gathering place of choice since its completion in the late 1970s. The name of the square recalls the important historical role it played in Taiwan's transition from one-party rule to modern democracy in the 1990s.
