The weather shelter, which was faithfully renovated in 2018 (although without the former bell tower), is located at an altitude of 530 meters and is believed to have been built as early as 1866. Bad Elster's garden inspector Paul Schindel had it rebuilt several times during the design of his North Park (now the Forest Park) at the beginning of the 20th century.

You reach this point via the rooted path*. Various signposts and a stele provide information. There is also a permanent hut here where you can rest, shelter from bad weather, or rest a bit in the upper area. You can cross the stream behind the stele and thus pass the green border. Across the road, a small path leads to the forest path in the Rehau Forest. *The path is somewhat slippery in places.

With a beautiful view of the small lake, you can really take a break here. ---- The listed building "Antonienhütte" from 1913 is a shelter and part of the dense, historic hiking trail network around Bad Elster. The Antonienhütte is located above the trout pond (also called the hunter's pond) and was acquired by the city of Bad Elster in 2023. The property is open to the public due to the supra-regional hiking trail (Vogtland Panoramaweg) that runs above it. The Antonienhütte already had massive damage at the time the property was acquired. Due to the enormous financial outlay for securing and renovating this important cultural monument, the previous private owners of the area around the trout pond were unable to carry out appropriate renovation measures. However, the condition of the Antonienhütte has now deteriorated so much due to waterlogging and rot that its stability can no longer be guaranteed with simple safety measures. In addition to the impending loss of a cultural monument that is important for the Saxon State Spa, this of course also represents a threat to public use. In consultation with the State Office for Monument Preservation in Dresden and the Lower Monument Preservation Authority of the Vogtland District Office, the work required to preserve the shelter was precisely defined. This includes: Careful removal of the old wooden shingles as well as the supporting battens and the damaged round timbers New installation of missing and damaged round timbers, especially in the area in contact with the ground, using debarked, naturally grown round timbers in accordance with the monument preservation authority Shoeing of the round timber support feet with flakes in this area Sealing of the roof using new roof battens, formwork and a durable titanium-zinc roof covering. With the measures described, the preservation of this important monument in the ensemble of other shelters surrounding Bad Elster can be ensured. The total expenditure for these measures amounts to 22,567 euros net. The renovation measures were completed in December 2024. Source: https://badelster.de/aktuelles/detail/news-spendenaufruf

The Hermitage is a pretty log cabin (today without the former turret), stands at 530 m above the Baltic Sea level, as a sign still says today. Unfortunately, the date of its construction and the names of the builders can no longer be determined. The “Hermitage Hermitage” is already marked on a site plan from 1884. This weather shelter was rebuilt several times based on ideas from Paul Schindel. Its name suggests a hermit's hermitage. But there are no traditions about this. In 2018 it was renovated down to the last detail.

An arbor (lat. altus for high) is a balcony supported by columns from the ground will. Not so with our Bohemian neighbors: there it is a pavilion that Park serves as a shelter and vantage point. The two friendly cities Hof and Karlovy Vary built two balconies in 2014: one here and the other, the "Josef Jungmann-Altan" on a 535-meter high lookout hill above the Březová dam on the Teplá River. Josef Jungmann (1773-1847) was a writer and frequented Karlsbad. His five-volume Czech-German dictionary is famous.
