One of the most beautiful sections of the Stoneman Miriquidi Road: a quiet, flat stretch, hardly any traffic, and warm autumnal air. The alternating light and shade make the ride a pleasure—a section that simply stays with you.

Rungstock is a forest area and nature reserve between Olbernhau and Ansprung. The name originally derives from "Rohnstock" (tree stump), but was later reinterpreted as "Runge" (pole on a wagon). Rungstock is an important area for near-natural beech forests and is home to a variety of plants and animals.

Here, Geißelbach makes its way between the two hills Geißelberg and Steinbuschhübel. A bench invites you to linger here for a moment and take in the small, lovely river valley.

Very nice valley, not overcrowded.

Here you are driving on a state road, which fortunately is not too busy. The incline is moderate.

The Gimmlitz rises just below the crest of the Ore Mountains on Hermsdorfer Flur and collects the water of its 27-kilometer-long valley until it unites with the Freiberger Mulde. In earlier centuries, after the settlement of the Ore Mountains, it was used as a mill valley and for cattle breeding (e.g. about 25 mills around 1900), today it is a nature reserve. The Reichenau part of the Gimmlitztal covers about 5 km shortly after its source near Hermsdorf. There are preserved technical monuments here (sawmill Illingmühle, bone crusher Weicheltmühle). Traditional crafts and artists have settled here.

The Gimmlitztal extends from the Hermsdorf lime works to the Lichtenberg dam and to the confluence with the Freiberger Mulde below Lichtenberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains. It is traversed by the Gimmlitz, a right tributary of the Freiberger Mulde. The valley forms the eastern border of the Erzgebirge/Vogtland Nature Park in Saxony up to the federal highway 171.
