The free car park is at the end of Basaltwerkstrasse. It is best to park on the left side of the road. We parked on the right and stood in the full summer heat in the afternoon. The small Liegelberg shelter is a great place to stop. There you will find brochures about the Gleichberg area as well as helpful hiking trail signs. We found this place to be very lovingly laid out and detailed. It is a pleasure to look at this place.

Once here you have several options. Either you drive in the direction of Linden, to Streufdorf or to Seidingstadt/Westhausen. Coming here from Streufdorf is an alternative to the route via Seidingstadt and then on to Westhausen or Heldburg. We prefer the trip via Seidingstadt. The view up there to the Straufhain is really nice. There is also a trail/path that leads directly to Westhausen. However, you have to know the beginning of the trail and the course at the beginning and want to ride it. It's going uphill straight away. The hut here on the witch hill offers a place to rest. Haubinda, the school village, is also easily accessible from here. There it goes, however, just before the school, steeply downhill on gravel.
