This place was formerly called Grießberg or Greisberg. The name refers to the natural soil composition of sand, gravelly sand, and shell limestone scree. In Middle High German, it was referred to as "griez." It wasn't until the 19th century, as part of romanticizing the area and promoting tourism, that it received the name Gerichtsberg (Court Hill). During this time, a movement formed in Heldburg to beautify the town and its surrounding areas, aiming to develop Heldburg as a summer resort. Just took a short bike ride and drove past again. Everything's fine, and there's even a lodge book now. Hornets 🐝 are currently building a nest here, but they're relaxing on the roof ridge. According to the entry, sleeping is permitted.

This log cabin "Hirtenwiese" invites you to a comfortable rest. It is furnished with a table and corner seat, a wood-burning stove with a supply of wood on the shelf. Carvings adorn the two pillars on the front.

Very nicely and functionally furnished. Let's hope she is treated with care.

The hut is very nice and open to everyone. To keep it that way, I can only recommend leaving it clean at all times. Please take the garbage back with you (I would like to come here more often myself)

Just emerging - whether only for hunters and forest workers will be seen

The Schwedenschanze has the best view for miles around. The observation tower is one of the best I have ever visited. The hut is only open on weekends.

Really great up there, but only when the tower is open.
