A quarry lake that invites you to swim and relax. Pfordter See, which is fed by groundwater, originated from a gravel pit and covers an area of approximately 11 hectares in the Fulda floodplain in the Pfordt district. The shore of Pfordter See is very steep in some places and flat in others. In the warmer months, the lake is popular for swimming. Even in dry summers, the water level remains almost constant.

The dam in the Ibra Valley (Ibra Reservoir), built in 1974 for flood protection, is also used for leisure and recreation. Kirchheim Lake Park offers campsites, holiday homes, waterskiing facilities, beach volleyball courts, and other sports facilities, as well as a conference hotel. The 8.4-hectare, up to eight-meter-deep bathing lake is visited by an average of around 60 bathers per day; during peak season, the number can rise to 300.
