Where does the name come from?

Many people are still unaware of the Sechserschlucht in the Küchwald. The facility, which includes bridges, stairs and benches, was built in 1906. It is located somewhat secluded, 50 metres after the roundabout junction in the direction of Borna. The transformation of the Küchwald into a park was the result of an initiative by Louis Schönherr. The textile king wanted to offer Chemnitz workers - including many children at the time - opportunities for recreation.

Beautiful valley between Eppendorf and Hetzdorf Viaduct. In that direction it rolls very well because it goes slightly downhill. In the other direction it goes slightly uphill. As a result, the road is in good condition up to the Merzdorf junction. From there to the viaduct the road is bad. There too Traffic light with a very long red phase

This initially wide path becomes increasingly narrow and rocky, partly exposed, and meanders wildly romantically down into the Zschopautal. It is about 1 km long. Via Mala is a path from the 19th century that was cut into the steep slope of the Zschopau in the 1970s. The narrow bridge over the “Devil’s Gorge” with a view of an overgrown rock is particularly exciting. Via Mala is also known as a mountain road in the Alps as the “bad (evil) way”.
