The water features include, in addition to a spacious fountain pond near the New Palace, the dolphin fountain on the south side of the main building, the lion's head fountain, the swan pond at the foot of the large sequoia tree, the small cascade and the jewel of the palace gardens, the Great Cascade.

The palace garden is really worth seeing in summer.

In this cut in the hillside, which was made by iron mining, water emerges from the rocky subsoil in three places. It flows in small rivulets into a dammed pond. The spring basin was created by an open-cast mine over four hundred years ago. According to tradition, two railway workers from Altenbeken gave the spring its name because they regularly chose this place for a leisurely rest on their hikes. These two were real Altenbeken originals. They were known to the locals as a funny couple, as "Max and Moritz".

The small cascade grotto is integrated into the remains of the southern baroque garden wall from 1718. The garden only grew to the south around 1850. The water lily pond with its fountain, created in 1851, is within sight.
