The Noon Gate is the most beautiful of the four entrance gates to the Imperial City. It was built in 1833 by Minh Mang in the style of the gate of the same name in Beijing. The reign of the Nguyen Dynasty ended here in 1945 when the last emperor, Bao Dai, handed over his regalia to Ho Chi Minh.

The Thai Hoa Palace is the royal audience hall at the center of the Citadel of Hue, the former imperial city of Vietnam. It is also known as the Palace of Supreme Harmony. Important ceremonies and receptions of the Nguyen Dynasty were held here, and the throne room of Vietnam's last emperors was located there.
