Romantic nature in the Lauchagrund valley – a feast for the eyes, ears, and nose, with climbing rocks, mysterious caves, and film history. The DEFA film "Das kalte Herz" (The Cold Heart) was filmed here. MDR (Central German Broadcasting) was also on location. (Unfortunately, the program is no longer available online.) Romantic nature in the Lauchagrund valley – a feast for the eyes, ears, and nose, with climbing rocks, mysterious caves, and a rich film history.

Although the story takes place in the Black Forest, outdoor shots for fairy tale films about the “Cold Heart” were not only shot there, but sometimes in completely different locations: Thuringian Forest instead of the Black Forest and Wannsee instead of Schluchsee. Unfortunately, the schnapps beech in Spittergrund could no longer be saved and had to be felled. In the official gazette 09/2021 the mayor reports: As you can see on the front page, the remaining trunk of the schnapps beech has been given a special upgrade. By putting on a table top, the trunk became a regular table and is thus protected from the weather, rubbish and violence. A nice idea that helps a little over the loss of the beech. I would like to thank the Schlupp joinery for the tabletop, the creative mind Egon Stötzer and the helpers Uwe Schmidt and Hubert Hörchner for their commitment!
