You can also get through the Kalbetal if you drive from the Okertalsperre up to the Ahrendsberger cliffs (Hallesche Hütte). There are some decent climbs, but the view from the top makes up for everything!

Wonderful, easy-to-manage route from Sieber to the heights of the Harz Mountains

The nature reserve has been protected by a new ordinance since January 22, 2021. This beautiful section of the trail is closed to cars. It branches off from the Sieber to Andreasberg road just beyond Sieber and is easily accessible by bike. The trail follows the Sieber River past the oldest ski hut in the Harz Mountains through pristine nature, first with meadows, mixed forest, and later with the Harz spruce forest, to the Harz High Road between Sonnenberg and Claustal-Zellerfeld. This paved trail through the scenic Sieber Valley is easy to cycle. By the way: The nature reserve has been protected by a new ordinance since January 22, 2021.
