The São Sebastião Fort, also known as São Sebastião Castle, began to be built in the 16th century, serving as a maritime defense for Angra do Heroísmo. Over the years, it has undergone several reforms and played a significant role in historical conflicts. Today, the fort houses an inn and was classified as a Property of Public Interest. Its inclusion in the Historic Center of Angra do Heroísmo contributed to its classification as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
