The Torre d'Homenatge is the most striking surviving tower of the Castell d'Alaró on Mallorca. Dating from the early 14th century, it was completed between 1319 and 1320 and served as the main entrance to the castle. It was also the residence of the Castellan, the commander of the fortress. The tower is particularly windy and exposed on the ridge of the castle complex. Hikers who spend a long time there, especially during cool winds from the north or west, are prone to chills. This gave rise to the local joke that one "catches a cold" there, which is why the tower is popularly known as "es Constipador."

When the weather is good, you can enjoy the best views of the mountains and the island from the Castell d' Alaró. There is a small chapel and a small café up here. Drinks, coffee and cake are available. These are brought up by two mules. There is also a toilet here. However, it can only be used when the water reservoir has been filled with rain. If the weather is bad, you can find shelter up here.

Very nice hike from the Hotel L'Hermitage near Orient, with a fantastic view of Alaro Castle. Surefootedness is required.

One of the most beautiful hikes in Mallorca. The hike up to the Castell d'Alaró, including the break at the top, is one of the best hikers can do inland. At the top there is a chapel with a restaurant and a simple hostel. The view from the top is magnificent.
