The Castell d'Alaró is not only famous as a historical place, but also as the destination of the most beautiful hiking routes in Mallorca. The ascent takes you over easy to moderately difficult routes through the breathtaking Tramuntana mountains. On the 822 meter high castle you can enjoy a panoramic view as far as Palma.

In the former monastery on the summit above the fortress ruins there is now a mountain hut. For a few euros you can stay up here in simple bunk beds with a unique view. In the bar of the mountain hut, day hikers can also get a hot coffee in winter or a cool drink in summer. All supplies for the guests are brought up the mountain in an environmentally friendly manner by the two curious donkeys.

The Puig Alaro can be reached on various hiking trails. Coming from the south I can recommend it here, komoot.de/tour/163159420/embed. Once at the top you can marvel at the Castell Alaro, furthermore you have a great view of the Tramuntana peaks, the fertile plain, the La Victòria peninsula and the Cap Ferrutx. On the descent, you can enjoy the best shoulder of Mallorca in the Es Verger farm.
