Outside of the bathing season, waterfowl are delightful – for the first time in my life I saw an almost tame heron 😬 (in February)

The HL (presumably a local landmark) is located right here, ON the bridge. It doesn't exactly look impressive when crossing it. To enjoy the fantastic view you see in the photos, you have to walk all the way around the pond. And today (February) I was ankle-deep in mud. On the other hand, two dozen squirrels were happily dancing around me. A worthwhile detour, but with some limitations, at least in the winery.

The water is framed by mature trees. Anyone who lives here can consider themselves fortunate.

Nice place to catch your breath after a long climb towards Hampstead Heath

Nice park that you pass through on the way to Highgate Cemetery.

The Mixed Pond is a natural bathing pond and one of London's best open air swimming spots. The water is deep and opaque and suitable for competent swimmers only.

All the paths around here are shared with pedestrians - and, often, dogs off leads - and kids running around. Caution required!
