If you walk south from the floating dock, after about 100 meters you'll reach a promontory that juts out into the lake to the east. Upon entering, you'll find several benches with a fantastic view of Lake Illern.

On the left side of the floating dock are very tall reeds. Ducks often stay there. During my visit, I even saw a family of ducks with a total of eight young.

Illern is right in the centre of the nature reserve. It's waters are crystal clear, and the biodiversity is rich - a popular spot for fishers, birdwatchers and nature lovers alike. The path around the lake alternates between shady forest sections, and stretches along the shore. There are numerous great beaches and swimming spots.

A beautiful jetty with seating along the sides. A cute pair of ducks were taking a siesta here. A little further up is a fire pit with benches.
