Beautiful traditional restaurant with a great beer garden in the middle of the forest. The kitchen is Franconian modern. Guests are treated to hearty snacks and delicious pan-fried dishes. On Sunday lunchtime, roast meat is a must. On certain special days, the newly built bakery and smokehouse smell of fresh Waldhütte bread and fish. The Waldhütte menu offers a wide variety of fresh and regional dishes - including vegetarian and vegan.

The Forsthaus Kamerun, now an excellent Italian pizzeria with a beautiful beer garden, is open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays and public holidays from 11.30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The forester's house in Ottmannsreuth, built in 1848, has been called "Forest House Kamerun" since 1884. At that time, Fritz Brandt, Cosima Wagner's future son-in-law, was cycling out of the city with a friend from Bayreuth on a hot July day. In the forester's house, they were given refreshments by the forest ranger's wife. Back home, the friends reported that they had made a discovery like the African explorer Gustav Nachtigal had made on the Black Continent. Since all the newspapers were reporting on the raising of the German flag in the new Cameroon protected area, the two explorers called their forester's house "New Cameroon". It has kept this name to this day.

Beautiful ponds. Here at the Maulaffenplatz the paths around the ponds meet. You have the opportunity to rest in the hut. Unfortunately you can hear the A70 clearly as it runs along the other end of the ponds. Nevertheless it is a beautiful place to watch birds and other animals.
