Great place, lots of nature, a lot has been done compared to before, e.g. seating, a path that goes almost all the way around the small lake, one or more entrances into the water.

Great bridge. A fantastic light installation by Martin Fellinger underneath the bridge. A lovely place to encounter herons, browse books, and/or indulge in some thought.

Great place, lots of nature. A lot has been done compared to the past, such as seating, a path that almost completely surrounds the small lake, and one or more entrances to the water. As far as I could see (I'm there often), the lawn is always well-maintained for lounging in warm weather.

A trip to the Stein ruins is highly recommended! There's a well-maintained circular trail for hikers, and ample parking beneath the dam for those traveling further afield. Access is via stairs up to the dam or an asphalt ramp. The path to the ruins is well-maintained, but the ruins are not wheelchair accessible. Interestingly, the castle once stood inaccessible on a 40-meter-high cliff above the White Elster River... It still stands there today, but is now flooded to its foundations, and you could dock a canoe directly in the moat.

The Lettenbachsee used to be the pit of a brickworks where clay (Letten) was mined.

To honor former German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the Hof city council dammed the Lettenbach stream to form Lake Bismarck in 1904. A stone round-arch bridge has spanned the outflow ever since.
