Lake Laach in the eastern Volcanic Eifel, near Maria Laach Abbey in the municipality of Glees, is the largest lake in Rhineland-Palatinate. It formed in the caldera of the Laach volcano after its last eruption, which was initially dated to 10,930 BC. Following radiocarbon dating of buried tree trunks carried out in 2021, the date of this eruption was corrected to 11,056 BC; doubts about the accuracy of the new dating have not yet been confirmed. The outgassing observed as mofettes in the southeastern part of the lake is a sign of ongoing volcanism. Source: Wikipedia

Pure nature! Here you can let your soul dangle. On the eastern shore of the lake, carbon dioxide is constantly escaping over the surface of the water, it is bubbling and small bubbles are rising. Very impressive!
