Tankumsee is an artificial lake in Isenbüttel, in the district of Gifhorn. It was created around 1970 as a gravel pit during the construction of the Elbe Lateral Canal and was opened as a bathing lake in 1976. What Endurancer says: It can get extremely crowded here, especially during the summer holidays. Since pedestrians and cyclists share a path, it quickly becomes annoying for everyone. The route around the lake is great – for me, it's best between November and March, when it's reliably empty.
