By the way: the Mechtenberg has nothing to do with the Erzbahn route; it is several km to the east. Easily accessible from the Zollvereinweg and the Kray-Wanner-Bahnstrasse.

From the Mechtenberg you have a beautiful view. In the vicinity there is a meadow orchard which is freely accessible.

The highest point in Essen at 202.54 m above sea level is on the border between Essen-Heidhausen and the neighboring town of Velbert. To the east there are delightful views of the hilly landscape of the Essen districts of Heidhausen and Fischlaken.
