Upper Palisades Lake is truly picturesque. The turquoise alpine lake sits at the base of Palisades Peak and has some spots to pitch a tent at the western shore. A 6.2-mile hike from Palisade Creek Campground takes you along Palisades Creek up to this scenic location. If you are interested in fishing: There is cutthroat trout and brown trout in Upper Palisades Lake.

Palisades Creek Campground is an idyllic place for hiking, fishing and recreation. It is nestled in the Palisades Creek Canyon and offers picnic tables, toilets and drinking water. It operates on a first come, first served-base and is open from May. There are five single units and two double units. Fees per night range from 12 Dollars for a single unit to 24 Dollars for a double unit. It a located next to the trailhead for the popular Palisades Creek Trail that leads to Lower and Upper Palisades Lake.

Galena Lodge is a community owned day lodge that sits at 7300 ft elevation. In the summer it features lunches, bbq dinners, horseback riding, bike rides, guided bike rides, hiking and more.

On your way to the old isolated cabin, you will enjoy scenting sagebrush, beautiful wildflowers and the stunning scenery of the surrounding mountains. You might encounter some hikers on the trail. The hut itself was built by the Sun Valley Company in 1937 as a ski touring hut.
