Coming from Kobern-Gondorf, you first pass a large quarry on your left, then at the transition from asphalt to composite paving, there is a bench on the left and a lounger on the right. A few meters further on, a railing in the shape of a Tatzelwurm separates the road from the narrow stream bed and the rock wall rising up behind it. A small opening has been cut into it, with a deeper hole in the middle. There are already a few stones lying here that were thrown across the stream. You have three attempts to land a stone that stays there and promises good luck.

What is difficult at the moment (7/24) is that the narrow paths are heavily overgrown and therefore barely recognizable. Stickers and the stylized Tatzelwürmer are covered by the leaves of the vines, and blackberry tendrils, burrs and thistles spoil the passage. But if you find the signposts, the path is a lot of fun! Two ladders, two narrow vineyard wall steps, a steep slate chippings passage and several "stairs" where the wooden steps are rotten and only the fixing irons stick up into the air as additional tripping hazards.

You shouldn't miss the Matthias Chapel above Kobern-Gondern when visiting the town. The octagonal building is well worth seeing and is one of the most important late Romanesque chapels. https://www.koberngondorf.de/Matthiaskapelle

Small connecting road from Kolbern-Gondorf to the “clouds”. Here you walk through the valley of the “Hohesteinsbach” stream up to the village of Wolken. On a narrow asphalted road you overcome 210m over a length of 3.7km. It climbs slowly, sometimes a little steeper. At the end you have a beautiful view of the Moselle valley bridge on which the A61 crosses the Moselle.

In earlier, superstitious beliefs, the wooded side valleys of Kobern were considered to be mysterious ghost regions, especially at confusing bends or damp depths. Here in the Hohensteinbach valley, at the site of the "carved stone", there is a stone oracle, the "lucky little stone". You had three free throws. If one of the stones stayed put, you could confidently pass through the Hohesteinsbach valley. Even today, the children of Kobern know the lucky little stone as a game of skill. The Catholic St. Lubentius Church is in the district of Kobern. Completed in 1828, the church replaced the dilapidated Romanesque parish church in the cemetery. The capitals under the gallery, the baroque baptismal font and the iron grating in the sanctuary were taken from the church near the cemetery. The St. Lubentius was built according to the plans of the architect Johann Claudius von Lassaulx. The masonry consists of rock types from the region, such as the Mayen basalt. What is special is that the church does not have a bell tower but only a roof turret. Inside, the parish church shines with a coffered ceiling, in the individual fields of which the signs of the zodiac can be seen. more . . https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Lubentius_(Kobern)

St. Lubentius was built in 1827/28 as a hall church from rubble stones according to the plans of the architect Johann Claudius von Lassaulx. The unplastered masonry contains decorative elements made from local types of stone: greywacke, Mayen basalt and Laacher tuff. The church has no tower, only a roof turret. The four doctors of the church Gregorius, Hieronymus, Ambrosius and Augustine are depicted in large porthole windows on the long sides. The window above the main portal shows St. Lubentius, the patron saint of the church.

There are old tombstones around the cemetery. In the past, the family coats of arms were depicted on the gravestones so that one knew which "house" someone belonged to
