Very special place on an active waste mountain. It's a beautiful ride to the top of the mount, but you have to endure the smell.

The Ruinen MTB route is a fairly flat route with a number of nice single tracks and through a beautiful forest. This route is often fairly dry while other routes are already quite wet.

My first MTB ride ever ended this morning on this piece of singletrack, that was the icing on the cake of this route, enjoy!

The VAM mountain near Wijster will be closed from mid-July 2023 until the end of August. During the summer, a new cycling course will be constructed on the popular 'Col du VAM' among cyclists. The existing course will also be modified. This is happening in anticipation of the European Cycling Championship, which will be held on the 'Roof of Drenthe' in September.

Beautiful beautiful winding cycling road. Highly recommended, especially if you love biking through the forest but your bike can't handle the more muddy/soft roads!
