Eastgate Street in Chester is one of the city's most iconic and historic thoroughfares. You're afforded great views across the River Dee and toward Old Dee Bridge from this cycle path along the water.

A walk round the city walls is a worthwhile experience, giving not only good views of the centre of town, but also a number of other sights including the river, the castle and the racecourse

Lovely place for a stop a nice friendly cyclist cafe with nice staff and good food and drink.

Formerly known as Cleopatras ,the ownership and name has changed twice in a relatively short time(during 2023-24) The current owners are very friendly and welcoming and well aware of the cafe's strong cycling heritage...so will hopefully maintain the high levels of service. I called in a couple of months ago and it was all good!

A lovely old race track. When I was there on my bike your are allowed to use the race track to walk your dog 🐕

Established in 1539, Chester is the oldest racecourse still in operation in the world. The racecourse has consistently been awarded the Gold Standard Award by the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) since the award’s inception and was awarded the prestigious title of Large Racecourse of the Year, when the award was launched in 2015 and again in 2018 and 2019. There is a good cycle path around the racecourse, and when there are no races, you can walk around and take your dog on there.

Good views across the canal. Plenty people use the pathways on the sides of the canal. Best not to ride fast along this section

Another grand old historical building. Chester Cathedral, there are many trees in the cathedral grounds, making it difficult to take a clear photo

Grosvenor Park is a nice, tidy park with many decorative features. Very popular with dog walkers and tourists. There are many squirrels that like to be fed, these will run up your leg for food

Standing on the Old Dee Bridge you can see the water flowing over the submerged dam. Behind the dam there are pleasure boats taking people on trips, as well as communal seating & cafes

Chester is a historical city with many older, well preserved buildings.

Plenty of different places around Chester to stop and rest by the Dee whilst on a cycle ride or walk. Alongside the Groves area there's plenty of choices for refreshments and toilets
