The maintenance workers told us to wait for a while. Because they would come back with a vehicule suitable for bike transport. But we could hitch a ride in the meantime. In total it took us 40min to cross.

Update from the end of October and coming from Preveza. We stopped right before the tunnel and called +302682089394 and we were picked up by a yellow van of the road service. We had to sign a cyclist statement of compliance for transport and then were transported for free to the other side of the tunnel. Because it was quiet we only had to wait 5 minutes.

The shuttle gave us a lift and was very friendly. We simply called the tunnel number, and five minutes later they were there.

Very worth seeing, from the harbor to the fortress

Also known as the picturesque Horseshoe Harbor, it is a historic landmark of the town on the Gulf of Corinth. Originally called Lepanto by the Venetians, the harbor serves not only as a tourist attraction with cafés and restaurants, but is also the site of the famous naval Battle of Lepanto in 1571. Its horseshoe shape and the imposing Venetian castle overlooking the harbor make it an important historical and scenic feature of Nafpaktos.

Update September 2025: to cross through the Preveza Tunnel to Lefkada, the tunnel security "shuttle" does not work 100% (goodwill of employees or rules that change often?). The safest way is probably to go to the Preveza bus station (Ktel company normally). 4 or 5 buses per day. We managed to take one on Sunday at 12:30 (there was also one at 10:00 in the morning). Around 10 euros per person including the luggage supplement for the bike.
