This path through the gorge is very beautiful in both directions and not difficult to walk.

Well, I'm more on the side of those who think the place is just a tourist trap - loud, expensive, with aggressive waiters. Of course, there are lots of beautiful things to see, but once in Chania is enough.

Not an easy undertaking, the gorge is littered with boulders and you need to be sure-footed. You have to climb 146 metres to reach the plateau. The highlight is the almost overhanging rock face that shines golden in the evening sun.

Here, too, some shops are already empty.

The facades in warm colors and flowers and small trees, some of which climb over the streets like roofs, are wonderful photo opportunities. Anyone who likes to lose themselves in a city, enjoy and stroll is in good hands in Chania. I can only recommend everyone to move away from the main promenades and delve into the side streets. In some places there are empty alleys where Cretans sit comfortably in front of the door and no tourist ever seems to come by. A nice side effect is that the streets are so narrow that no cars can drive through. However, scooters and bicycles should not be underestimated, as they are represented in large numbers. And everywhere there are small, inviting taverns with beautifully set tables and lovingly designed decorations. There is a wonderful place to stop at every corner, whether for a coffee or dinner.
