Carlow Castle was built early in the 13th century, replacing an earlier earth and timber construction on the same site. The castle was built as a classic four-towered keep - a large rectangular body with drum towers at each corner. Today only part of the structure remains, the west wall with two original towers, the rest is in ruins. The castle is free to visit and includes some information panels.

Kilbrannish Forest nestles beneath the slopes of Mount Leinster, the highest point in Na Staighrí Dubha (the Blackstairs Mountains) at 2,605 feet (794 metres). It's home to waymarked woodland walks and boasts superb views across the lowlands.

Beautiful walk through the Wicklow mountains. I started from Marley house (south of Dublin) and I did the whole route in seven stages all very beautiful and different from each other. An experience that I recommend

Beautiful Eanderweg from/to Kildavin

The Wicklow Way is the oldest, most famous and probably one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in Ireland. It is 132 kilometers long and leads from Dublin through the Wicklow Mountains to Clonegall. Or in the opposite direction. All information can be found here: https://www.wicklowway.com/

Nice trig pointed summit marked by a trig point and a rather large communication mast that is local landmark for miles around. Great hike to the top and lovely views over to Blackstairs mountain and the surrounding countryside.

You can access routes for Blackstairs Mountain and Mount Leinster from here at Scullogue gap. There is a neat car park here where the unclassified road meets the R702. There is a small cute stone table there for leprechauns but only enough room for two cars.
