The Fangelturm in Friedland (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) is a defense tower of the city wall, which surrounded the city. The tower served to protect the city in a northwesterly direction and secured the transition across the delta. During the "Bride War" between the Duchy of Pomerania and the land of Stargard in 1453, the upper part of the tower was destroyed by a stone bullet from a Blide and not rebuilt. Thereafter, as the name Fangelturm betrays, the building was used as a prisoner tower. In the years 1909-1911, the city Friedland rebuilt the tower and installed a pressure vessel to use the building as a water tower.
