Markt Bibart quarry - structural diversity and species richness of the renatured gypsum quarry

The newly created scenic lake between the village of Seinsheim and the vineyards of the "Seinsheimer Hohenbühl" appellation offers an oasis for rest and relaxation. Parts of the Tree Horoscope Trail also encircle the lake. Swimming is not permitted, but relaxation is allowed. There is a playground for children and a volleyball court for adults.

Quite nice place to relax. As of this writing in early June, be careful around the water where you step. Young frogs are everywhere. Very nice place where you can take great pictures. We have been here twice and it has a different flair in every season

The lake is currently empty 09/01/2023 - still empty

This is a renatured gypsum quarry from the world-famous gypsum company Knauf, which is based in Iphofen. Various habitats were created in the former gypsum quarry. The still waters, spoil heaps and alternating wet areas created here offer a new home to a variety of plants and animals.
