The Schermützelsee is a 137 hectare lake in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland. It is the largest lake in Märkische Schweiz and is located in the center of the nature park of the same name, around 50 kilometers east of Berlin. The entire lake area and most of the shores are located in the area of the Kneipp spa town of Buckow. The name Schermützel goes back to the Slavic settlement period and very probably to the Slavic name for the buckthorn.

The small sandy beach is a lovely place to relax and is ideal for swimming on warm days.

The "Egg House" from the late 1920s is a building sculpture by the Berlin architect Fritz Glantz. The former country house of the Jewish banker family Zeidler, also called "Villa Parolo" after the first names of the owners, stands on slightly rising ground with a wide view of the lake. The building was constructed using timber frame construction on the imposing base floor, which is clad in field stones. The front of the house, which opens onto the lake shore, is correspondingly striking. The country house was originally a weekend house. Today it is used as a holiday home.

The Ludwig Lesser Promenade runs along the edge of the spa park along the lakeshore. It is named after the Berlin landscape architect who planned the park in Bad Saarow around 1910. Here, like a string of pearls, you will find the pavilion, the lakeside balcony, the Kursaal with restaurant terraces and the jetty of the Kurfürstenterrassen, as well as many other sights.
