The eponymous village is idyllically situated in a westward-facing valley on the island's west coast. It is known for its charming whitewashed houses, colorful roofs, and striking church dating from 1867. From the village, there are beautiful views of the neighboring island of Kalsoy. Kunoy is a place of tranquility and natural beauty that particularly touched us. Improved transport links via causeways and tunnels have made the island more accessible without losing its original charm.

A well-maintained path winds through the dense foliage to the huge rock Eggjarsteinur, which serves as both a shady picnic area and a challenging via ferrata.

Although the Faroe Islands are generally considered treeless, there is one notable exception on Kunoy: Viðarlundin í Kunoy, a small but dense forest of ash, birch, and spruce. This forest is a rare sight on the islands and offers a beautiful contrast to the otherwise barren landscape. We hear incredible chirping there, but unfortunately, don't get a single bird in our lens.

Föroya Bjór is a Faroese brewery based in Klaksvík. In addition to beer, the company also produces soft drinks. It was founded in Klaksvík in 1888. In 1883, Símun F. Hansen went to Denmark to learn the art of brewing and baking. After returning to the Faroe Islands in 1888, he founded his own brewery in Klaksvík, the second in the country. The first brewery was Restorffs Bryggjarí. In 2009, Föroya Bjór opened an office in Reykjanesbær and began exporting its products to Iceland. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%B6roya_Bj%C3%B3r

The village's name, "Gjógv," means "ravine" or "gorge" in Faroese. This refers to a 200-meter-long, seawater-filled ravine that leads from the village to the sea. This ravine serves as a natural harbor for smaller boats. In rough seas, boats must be pulled out of the water via a ramp to protect them from the surf. The ravine is an impressive natural spectacle, especially when the waves crash against the basalt walls.
