A wooden sign invites visitors to take a look at the castle grounds, but since it's privately owned, you should, of course, stop at the gate. From the 15th century until 1799, it was continuously owned by the Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels family, or rather, by the Capellan family from Austria, who married into the family. The last owners also erected the burial pyramid outside the town. Incidentally, information leaflets about the history of the castle, as well as other sights in Lüderbach, are posted at the bridge just south of the castle.

A wide wooden ceiling with illusionistic paintings from 1748 depicts clouds, stars, and musical angels. A picture of the Trinity highlights the choir. Jesus floats among the clouds next to God the Father, and above them the Holy Spirit appears as a dove. Sunbeams underscore the triangular composition. The triangle symbolizes the Trinity as the manifestation of God in the unity of three aspects. Year of construction: 12th-century tower, 1714 church Architectural styles: Romanesque, Baroque Special features: Baptismal font from 1519, painted vaulted ceiling, old organ (Peternell)

The Trinity Church in Ifta is a so-called open church. Its rather plain exterior is nevertheless deceptive. Parts of the church, including the tower, are Romanesque in origin. The current nave was built in the first half of the 18th century. Inside, you'll find a church designed in the peasant baroque style.

The three-story border tower near Ifta was a so-called command tower of the GDR border troops. The inner-German border was divided into individual sections. Each section had its own command tower. The upper floor was permanently manned by an officer and a soldier. From the Ifta border tower, the entire area – the border, the village of Ifta, and the airspace – was monitored. All messages, including those from the signal fences, were received here. Radio and telecommunications technology was operated from here. The ground floor housed sanitary facilities, and the first floor contained a rest room with beds for up to six people. For safe operation, each tower was equipped with accumulators and an emergency generator to ensure power supply to the border section in the event of a power outage.

The von Capellan family had lived in Lüderbach since 1612. The burial site was completed on behalf of Adam Friedrich von Capellan in 1779 after a construction period of three years. In its pyramid shape, it represents a representative of a long tomb tradition. Since this type of mousoleum is rarely found in Northern Europe, one must assume that the tomb was built according to the ideas of the client, whose family came from Austria. From there it was not far to Italy, where burial sites in the shape of a pyramid are often found. Adam Friedrich von Capellan and his sister Frederike von Cornberg found their final resting place in the basement of the monument.
