Lemnitz Castle was built in the Baroque style between 1739 and 1747. It was owned by the renowned linguist Hans Conon von der Gabelenz. Until its expropriation, it remained in his possession. In 1930, he became the castellan of Wartburg Castle and founded the Wartburg Museum and the castle archives. From 1962 to 1996, the castle served as a retirement home. It is now privately owned – visitors are not welcome.

The small hall church probably dates from the 15th or 16th century. Its interior was remodeled in the Baroque style in the mid-18th century.

Unfortunately, this castle cannot be visited.

The only thing that remains of the former castle, which was primarily used to secure trade routes, is the keep, which can be seen from afar. On a walk from the market square to the city park, you can see the building from a variety of perspectives. A tour inside is currently not possible.

Here at the Triptis city pond you can linger. Beautiful pond with various wild ducks and other plumaged creatures. Nice playground for the kids. Market with a stop is not far...😄😃💪🏻✌🏻🚴🏻♂️🚴🏽♂️🚶🏻♂️🚶🏻♀️🥾👍🏻

The complex is now privately owned and does not allow viewing or getting closer. It is also not possible to enter the tower. A tour along the wall close to the tower is possible. To get a nice view you would have to know the owner well and be allowed in. 😉
