A small wooden observation tower stands here at the edge of the forest, offering an unspectacular but beautiful view over the hilly landscape.

An old watermill, but no longer in operation. It looks like it's privately owned.

On the Lüneburg-Neetze road there is an extensive area with numerous archaeological monuments and monuments. The necropolis includes two megalithic tombs, numerous burial mounds, urn cemeteries and a hump burial ground. The group shows in an impressive way the close spatial juxtaposition of very different types of burial from different epochs. The burials range from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age and pre-Roman Iron Age to the Roman Empire and Migration Period. Source: https://denkmalatlas.niedersachsen.de/viewer/metadata/28932106/1/-/

Rullstorf. A summer day in 1967, between Scharnebeck and Rullstorf. Christian Krohn is on the way to his uncle in Rullstorf, as always he walks over the Kronsberg, past fields and the large sand pit. A fresh edge makes the 24-year-old curious, he stops, looks at the sand wall and discovers parts of a ceramic vessel on the upper edge that protrudes from the earth. Krohn digs it up and holds an urn that is more than 3000 years old in his hands. It is the first evidence of a Late Bronze Age cemetery (1200-800 BC). And for Krohn the first indication of an archaeological gold mine. https://www.landeszeitung.de/lueneburg/51009-zurueck-in-die-fruehe-bronzezeit-neue-schautafel-am-kronsberg/

The origins of today's Scharnebecker Mühle are closely linked to the former monastery there. In 1253, a Cistercian monastery was built not far from today's mill, which soon became one of the most influential in northern Germany. Among other things, the monks built a water mill on the site of today's Scharnebecker mill. To them To operate, they used the slope of the Sauerbach and dammed it in today's monastery ponds and the mill pond. Permanent operation of the mill was only possible with the help of these ponds. The ponds were also used for fish farming and still exist today. There are still fish there too. There is even the clubhouse of the Scharnebeck fishing club on the mill pond. However, due to the water shortage in the Sauerbach, it was necessary to install a steam engine as early as 1900, which was replaced by an electric motor in 1942. In 1946 the miller finally filled in the water channel. The mill is still in use today and is used for the production of special horse and poultry mueslis, which are delivered worldwide. https://www.scharnebeck.de/home/kultur-tourismus/freizeit-kultur/sehenswuerdigungen-pur/scharnebecker-muehle.aspx

The mill ponds near Scharnebeck are several small ponds on the southern edge of Scharnebeck, surrounded by healthy trees, which always provide a shady spot, especially in summer. There are a total of three ponds, which are referred to as Pond A, Pond B and Pond C. The club house is also located at Mühlenteich A. The mill ponds belong to a pond that is located in the southeast of the municipality of Scharnebeck in the district of Lüneburg in Lower Saxony. The pond is located southwest of the Scharnebeck cemetery, in the Kronsberg district. The ponds are fed by the Sauerbach, which flows into the pond system from the north into the northernmost pond, exits there in the southeast and flows in a larger curve to the left into the southernmost pond of the pond system. From the “main street” in the north of the pond, the “Auf der Domain” road going east from there and the “Mühlenstraße” going south-east lead directly to the north-western bank of the northernmost pond in the pond. The "Tiergartenweg" branching off to the south from this street leads past the western banks of the other ponds in the pond. The path that branches off from "Mühlenstraße" leads to the east bank of the other ponds in the pond complex, in addition to the western bank of the northernmost pond. The mill ponds are surrounded on all banks by a narrow or wider strip of trees. The main fish species in the mill ponds near Scharnebeck include eels, tench, pike, perch, carp and various types of white fish. https://www.fisch-hitparade.de/gewaesser/muehlenteiche-scharnebeck

The stately half-timbered building of this mill is located on the Neetze between the forest areas of the Fuhrenkamp and the Buchholzheide. It is first mentioned in the document book of the Scharnebeck monastery, which reports on a trade in 1330, through which the mill belonging to the Lüne monastery fell to the Scharnebeck monastery in exchange for a farm in Eyendorf.
