When the weather is nice, you can sit outside in the Gänsemarkt (Goose Market) and take a break at Café Vitaly. There's also a globe fountain and a humming stone. Put your head inside and give it a try! The bronze sculpture "Diepholz Geese," created in 1988, is by the artist Heike Walter. 11월 9, 2025, Old Town Hall Diepholz
A new building was constructed in 1904/05 to replace an older town hall, likely built in 1789. The three-story, brick-clad, historicist corner building, with its hipped and gable roofs, side gable projection, segmental and round-arched openings, profiled wooden windows, eaves frieze, stringcourses, bay windows, balconies, and slender corner tower with a tall spire and large gate for horse-drawn carriages, served as the town hall until 1985. Until 1927, it was used as a post office with an attached town hall, along with the local police station and two jail cells. Today, it hosts art exhibitions and events (Old Council Chamber). The county's Europe Direct Information Center was also located on the upper floor until 2011. [2][3] ] The State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments determined: “…historical significance within the context of Diepholz’s local history…” The new town hall of Diepholz, built in 1985, is located at Rathausmarkt 1. Since May 2015, the knowledge workshop in Diepholz has offered exciting opportunities to experience technology firsthand. Thanks to the commitment of local businesses, foundations, associations, and the public sector, a unique educational institution for science, crafts, and technology has been created in the former Lübkemann School building. In modern, equipped workshops for woodworking, electrical engineering, and robotics, children and young people aged 8 to 18 can saw, drill, solder, program, and explore the world of technology in a hands-on way.

Very well organized, and everything is free for tinkerers. Many projects in the areas of robotics, STEM, electronics, woodworking, and technology are explained simply. 3D printers, etc., are also available. So, it's worth a look! 😀👌

The Old Town Hall, built in 1904/05, is a charming building with bay windows, turrets, and a beautiful brick Gothic gable. A half-timbered town hall was built on this site as early as 1789. After its demolition, the current Art Nouveau building was constructed and inaugurated on November 16, 1905. https://www.stadt-diepholz.de/portal/seiten/diepholz-erleben-und-entdecken-900000276-21770.html

Summer 2024: After the rains of the past few months, Lake Oehlen is back. It is not quite as full as it was 10 years ago, but there is so much water that you can call it a lake again with a clear conscience. Hopefully it will stay with us...

A new building was constructed in 1904/05 to replace an older town hall, probably built in 1789. The three-story, historicist-style clinker-clad corner building with a hipped and gable roof, a side gable projection, segmental and round-arched openings, molded wooden windows, eaves frieze, floor cornices, bay windows and balconies, as well as a slender corner tower with a tall spire and a large gate for the passage of horse-drawn carriages, served as the town hall until 1985. Until 1927, it was used as a post office with an attached town hall, along with the local police and two detention cells. Today, art exhibitions and events are held here (in the old town hall). The upper floor also housed the district's Europe Information Center (Europe Direct) until 2011.[2][3] The State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments declared: "... historical significance within the context of the local history of Diepholz..." The new town hall of Diepholz from 1985 is located at Rathausmarkt 1.

The old town hall on Langen Strasse: “Prussian” is the name given to the architectural style in which our old town hall was predominantly built in 1904/05. In addition, there are medieval elements such as bay windows, turrets and the gable reminiscent of brick Gothic.

A very beautiful, expansive landscape with diverse wildlife. At the right time of year, you can observe cranes from the observation tower, for example. Bringing binoculars is definitely worthwhile. Some of the paths are gravel, but they are easily navigable with a regular trekking bike.

The tower is an eye-catcher, the stained glass window a historical feast for the eyes, the carillon sounds sometimes folk, sometimes French. Yes, we are talking about the Diepholz town hall, which was inaugurated in 1986. The administration building is the seat of the mayor, city council, citizens' office and all municipal employees. When the bells ring at noon and in the evening, you can also hear it on the neighboring town hall market. The Diepholz weekly market takes place on this square every Wednesday and Friday. This has been a tradition for over 100 years. A large selection of fresh ingredients is available there - fruit, vegetables, fish, sausage, meat, cheese, eggs, homemade yoghurt, even flowers and organic products from our own cultivation.

The Goose Market was built on the private initiative of a Diepholz businessman. The passage, featuring the "Diepholz Goose" sculpture, was officially opened on December 18, 1988. In good weather, you can sit outside in the Goose Market and take a break at the café. There's also a globe fountain and a humming stone. Put your head inside and try it out!
