"Prussian" is the name given to the architectural style in which our old town hall was mainly built in 1904/05. There are also medieval elements such as bay windows, turrets and the gable reminiscent of brick Gothic. Until 1927, the building on Langen Strasse was used more as a post office with an attached town hall. The local police were also housed there. Two detention cells with "thunder bars" testify to this. The former council chamber is still a real gem that is used today for art exhibitions and events. A large gate for horse-drawn vehicles to pass through is also traditionally part of it.

Today the old town hall with the "Körstube" is the place for a beer and a good snack to end a successful shopping trip.

The Old Town Hall, built in 1904/05, is a handsome building with bay windows, turrets, and a magnificent brick Gothic gable. A half-timbered town hall was built on this site as early as 1789. After its demolition, the current building was constructed in the Art Nouveau style and opened on November 16, 1905.

A new building was constructed in 1904/05 to replace an older town hall, likely built in 1789. The three-story, brick-clad, historicist corner building, with its hipped and gable roofs, side gable projection, segmental and round-arched openings, profiled wooden windows, eaves frieze, stringcourses, bay windows, balconies, and slender corner tower with a tall spire and large gate for horse-drawn carriages, served as the town hall until 1985.

Until 1927, it was used as a post office with an attached town hall, along with the local police station and two jail cells. Today, it hosts art exhibitions and events (Old Council Chamber). The county's Europe Direct Information Center was also located on the upper floor until 2011. [2][3]

The new town hall of Diepholz, built in 1985, is located at Rathausmarkt 1.
