The three mills, located a short distance from each other in the narrow Lösterbachtal, ceased operations around 1960. Two of the 19th-century buildings have a tradition dating back to the 16th century. The Upper Mill (Blasiusmühle) was a flour mill, the Middle Mill (Nickelsmühle) was a sawmill, and the Lower Mill (Katzenmühle) was built in 1831 as an oil mill.

Between Nonnweiler and Hermeskeil, the cycle and hiking trail runs next to, over and just below the old Hochwald railway line. Definitely go two kilometers further to the Hermeskeil Steam Locomotive Museum (open only on weekends)!
