12월 16, 2024, Seedorf Gatehouse (Torhaus Seedorf)
Built in 1583, the Seedorf gatehouse is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in Schleswig-Holstein. The moats, ramparts and loopholes that still exist today reveal its former function as a well-protected castle complex. The former prison cells and torture chamber now house museum rooms, and concerts are held in the Knights' Hall. There are also regular guided tours of the museum. The newly designed exhibition focuses primarily on estate life in Seedorf and the stories of the owners' families. In addition to exhibits, the exhibition includes text panels created by a project group from Christian-Albrechts University. Estates of this period usually had a stately manor house, which in some places was also called a castle because of its magnificent architectural style. The lords of the manor lived in the manor house with their families. Behind the manor house there was an elaborate park or garden. In front of the manor house was the forecourt, which was surrounded by numerous stables and farm buildings. There were also apartments for the staff, a bakery, saddlery, etc., unless these were relocated to side farms. The front end was a gatehouse, which was intended to demonstrate the grandeur of the estate and protect it from intruders. The access roads to the gatehouse were planted with avenues. This made the estate's claim to power over the region visible from afar. https://www.holsteinischeschweiz.de/poi/seedorfer-torhaus

The Seedorf manor house was built in 1697 under Hans Blome, and the building was expanded through extensive renovations around 1750 under the princes of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. The classicist building reached its final state in 1829. The interior still contains the beautiful rococo stucco and classicist wall paintings. https://www.herrenhaus-seedorf.com/

The Seedorf manor house was built in 1697 by the Blome family and the Danish King Friedrich II and is located on the southern edge of the "Holstein Switzerland" cultural landscape. In an idyllic location, directly on Lake Seedorf, the former estate is surrounded by unique 300-year-old avenues. Source: https://www.herrenhaus-seedorf.com The Blome family owned many properties in the Plön district.

Cycle along the moat of the Seedorf estate and look at everything. Finally, an estate where not everything is private. Note the four cannons in the gatehouse and the horse rings on the ceiling at the gate passage.

The Heidmoor lowland is owned by the municipality of Seedorf, the district of Segeberg and the Schleswig-Holstein Nature Conservation Foundation. It is to be preserved, secured and restored through measures such as biotope promotion, waterlogging, fallow land and extensive use as a valley moor. The goals are to protect the soil and water balance, to regenerate it as a habitat for the characteristic flora and fauna, to promote the ecosystem of the moor as a whole, to protect and develop the breeding population of endangered meadow, reed and waterfowl, and to protect the landscape in the valley moor complex. In order to achieve these goals, measures such as watering the NSG area, extensive grazing and care to support the marsh tea have been carried out in recent years.

The Heidmoor lowland between Blohmnath and Glasau/Sarau in the district of Segeberg is part of the floodplain of the upper Trave. The Ice Age origin lies in the silting up of a flat reservoir in the drainless depression of the rounded ground moraine. What remained was a raised bog, today's Birkenmoor. The meadows and pastures surrounding this remainder of the moor today were created in the past by moor cultivation and drainage measures. The original fen landscape can still be seen after flooding. The radical amelioration of the entire area at the end of the 1930s brought the end of the moor system. Even the remainder of the raised bog was intensively drained by side ditches and branch ditches, and the large areas of marsh tea growing there were cleared. Since 1941, 70 ha of the Heidmoor lowlands have been under nature protection, which NABU has looked after since 1983. The entire area of the Heidmoor lowlands covers 370 ha.

An impressive system of avenues extends from the former Seedorf estate far into the landscape. One of these tree lines is the "Himmelsallee", which leads to the gatehouse from 1583. The tall brick building once protected the estate in conjunction with a system of ramparts and moats. When this protection was no longer needed around 1800, the ramparts and moats were leveled, but remains of the swearing-in facilities on the estate have been preserved. The estate buildings and gardens reflect the several centuries that the stately estate has experienced. These include the manor house from 1697, the former orangery from 1709 and remnants of avenues that bear witness to the former formal design and are up to 200 years old. The manor house and its summer café invite you to enjoy the gently undulating landscape around Lake Seedorf. You can get married in the gatehouse in an extraordinary setting and there are various rooms in the manor house available for subsequent celebrations. http://www.gartenrouten-sh.de/gartenrouten/8-segeberg/gaerten/gutspark-seedorf.html

5월 4, 2020, Seedorf Gatehouse (Torhaus Seedorf)
The gatehouse in Seedorf was built in 1583 in the Dutch late Renaissance style as part of the fortifications of the Seedorf estate. The building consists of the actual gatehouse, which in turn is flanked by two towers. It was built of bricks - the facade is structured with sandstone window frames and cornices and has numerous decorative anchors. The three-storey gatehouse has a hipped roof covered with roof tiles, the towers have slate-covered spires. On the front, the gatehouse has four granite loopholes on the lower floor, in which there are small cannons. In 1929, the gatehouse was listed as a historical monument and became the property of the Seedorf municipality. It is part of the Seedorf municipality's coat of arms. The gatehouse was extensively renovated between 1963 and 1968 and between 2000 and 2002. Today it is used for events, as a museum, as a registry office, archive and office. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torhaus_Seedorf

Those who admire this house should not forget the gatehouse a few meters south. It is much nicer! Also partially preserved moats and protective walls surround the manor.
