A semi-open pasture landscape is an extensively used form of landscape management that combines natural processes and human intervention. Year-round grazing by livestock such as cattle, horses or sheep ensures that open grasslands are preserved, while trees and shrubs can grow at the same time. The animals' irregular foraging creates diverse microhabitats that promote high biodiversity. Open spaces, semi-open areas and wooded zones alternate, creating valuable habitats, especially for insects, birds and other animals. Such landscapes are not only ecologically important, but also offer attractive recreational areas for people.

The hiking trail here leads over the former narrow-gauge railway line.

The Kirchbarkau - Preetz - Lütjenburg (KPL) narrow-gauge railway, founded in 1908, connected rural towns in the region from 1910 onwards over a distance of 41.1 kilometres with 23 stops and was used primarily for freight transport, for example for agricultural products. Despite good infrastructure and regular transport, it was not economically viable, so passenger transport was initially discontinued and then all operations were discontinued in 1938. The line was dismantled, but relics such as the Schwentine Bridge remind us of this short but significant era in regional transport history.

In 2008, Ms. Kendon had the idea of creating a herbal spiral. The result of the "Preetz blooms" competition is this beautiful herb pyramid. It's worth touching and sniffing!

The Sieversdorf Bridge was renovated this winter. The old wooden bridge was replaced.
