A necessary evil, and further north, there's only a gravel path next to the road instead of a proper bike path. It's a shame that bike paths aren't mandatory on federal highways; they would be absolutely necessary, at least uphill (towards the north).

Even though you had to ride downhill here on the Schwarzwald Super!, I would only do it as a climb. Riding at high speed on gravel/sand isn't fun on a road bike, especially since the path is very narrow.

The shore, and the great photos featured here in the highlight, can only be reached by gravel bike or on foot. In Aha, you can also ride the few meters to the lake on a road bike.

A great climb from Hinterzarten – or a descent there. Challenging, with fantastic views every now and then. And at the top, you know: this is what the Black Forest smells like.

A very challenging section for a road bike. A steep climb out of Hinterzarten, followed by a gravel descent, where you shouldn't go too fast on a road bike. All this takes place in a beautiful landscape. Here, the challenge is combined with the scenic beauty.

For me, this has always been one of the most beautiful climbs in the Black Forest. Crisp, idyllic, and essentially car-free.
