Very nice hiking area with paths that lead directly along the water.

The Erpe is a small 32km long river: very idyllic. Its source stream in the north of Werneuchen is also called the Stienitzfließ. From Werneuchen to Altlandsberg it is also known as Langes Elsenfließ, and from here to the Berlin city limits it is also known as Neuenhagener Mühlenfließ. Like the entire landscape in Brandenburg and Berlin, the course of the river is also shaped by the last ice age.

The shore path at the house is now marked and cordoned off with an entry ban. The way around the Erpetal is probably only possible on the nature trail and the E11 according to information from NABU.

The original structure was built in 1892 as a railway bridge. The building was destroyed in 1945, blown up by the retreating German army. After the war, despite finding itself on the new Polish-German border, it was rebuilt in connection with the Soviet military doctrine assuming a quick offensive against Western countries. Despite the reconstruction, there were no trains running on it until the railway line was closed in 1999. Since 2004, efforts have been made to reuse the facility. In 2018, the Landscape Parks Complex of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Barnim-Oderbruch Office signed an agreement under which the bridge is to become a pedestrian and bicycle path

Nice way by the river

This closes the gap in the railway line over the Oder and makes extensive cycling routes through West Pomerania possible. Many photos and explanations of the history of the bridge are installed here, well worth seeing.
