The previously somewhat run-down castle complex has been lovingly restored for several years by the “Offensive Young Christians” association, which also uses the buildings. The St. Michael's Chapel is particularly worth seeing. There is a great view from the café's beer garden. Guided tours are available on request.

The ensemble of the old and new castle with the rent master's office and the Protestant town church characterizes the city center of Bad König. The Old Castle was built by the Counts of Erbach-Schönberg in the 16th century and decorated with artistic exterior paintings. Today it houses the city administration. The Bad König local history museum is located on the ground floor in the inner courtyard of the castle. Immediately next to the Old Palace is the late baroque New Palace from 1793 with its associated chamber building. The charming melody of a carillon sounds four times a day from the tower of the neighboring church. The former rent master's office from 1804, the youngest of the stately buildings, completes the beautiful ensemble. From the inner courtyard of the Old Castle you can reach the pleasure garden, which invites you to take a short walk.

It belongs to Erbach like many other historical ensembles: the mill wheel on the former castle mill. It stands in an exposed position between the Lustgarten and the market square, on one of the main footpaths in the historic old town. The water wheel was last reinstalled in 1986 at great expense. The landmark of Michelstadt, the town hall is famous. It was built in 1484 by unknown master builders. The date of construction is recorded in Gothic numerals on the town hall itself. Many American visitors find it hard to believe that the building was built eight years before their continent was discovered.
