In 1985/1986 the entire castle was extensively renovated. In the course of this, the road at the back of the castle was also set up.

Admission is now €7.00 regardless of whether with or without a guided tour. (as of 09/14/23) The upper floors are private and cannot be visited. This also includes the keep. Exciting exit (voluntary) through under the castle. Bring a cell phone light or, even better, a flashlight.

The Backelsteinblick is on the Schusterpfad west of the Backelstein. There is a nice bench to rest, but unfortunately without a direct view of the Backelstein, but if you walk a few steps to the east, you can discover the Backelstein through an aisle. If you walk the tour to the east on the shoemaker's path, you should make a short detour of 300 meters to the Fliegeburg Backelstein. It's not far and worth it. Thanks to the signposts that cannot be overlooked, the "Fliegeburg Backelstein" is easy to find at the junction. There isn't much left to see. But the view is worth it.
